The Best Man Job List

As a best man you are not just there to give the rings over and make sure the groom is feeling calm, you are there to be his right hand man in everything! You will need to help him make decisions, plan, and of course have a great time. Here at Stag Weekends, we are always on hand to help with your stag party and extra best man duties. We have listed some of the jobs that you need to remember to do before, during and after the big day:

Suit fitting dates booked in:

This is a job that you can help the groom with and take the pressure off him, make sure all the dates you need to get the suits fitted are in all the groomsmen calendars, you need to look your best so getting the right fit is a must.

Stag Party:

The most important job as the best man is to make sure you give the groom the biggest and best send off he deserves. Stag weekends can help you plan the whole stag do, it will be the easiest job you will do, and we will make you look like a Stag Party legend! Just let us know your ideas and we will sort the rest.

Night before wedding plan:

Help the groom to plan what he will be doing and where he will be staying the night before the wedding. You may need to offer him a place to stay for the night, get some food in and a few beers and make sure he feels ready for the big day with no hangover of course! This way the bride can stay at home rather than going somewhere else.

Morning before wedding plan:

Think about the morning of the wedding and if there is anything the groom would want to do. Maybe sort out a breakfast for all of the lads which will help the groom feel relaxed.

Getting to the wedding very early:

It’s your job to make sure that the groom is at the wedding on time if not earlier than needed. Ask the bride if there is anything that needs checking or doing at the venue in the morning, get extra brownie points for taking this pressure of the bride and groom and making sure everything is ready for when the bride walks down the aisle.

Keep the groom calm:

It’s more than likely that the groom will be feeling nervous and excited all at the same time. You need to keep him calm and settle his nerves.

Help guests and make sure they are in the right place in time. You need to make sure you are at the wedding venue ahead of any guests so that you can be the one showing them where to sit and informing them of the logistics of the day.

Keeping rings:

The biggest job of them all, is making sure you have got the rings with you! Everyone will be looking at you for the rings just before they say I do so make sure you have them with you in a safe place.

Photo list - help gather all guests for easy picture taking:

Along with the bridesmaids you will need to make sure everyone gets a picture with the Bride and Groom. He will not be thinking about getting pictures with guests, but you need to be the one to ensure they have them all. Make sure you help keep all guests around for the main pictures, this will help speed up the picture taking as guests will be ready to jump in when its their turn.

Speech

Another big, best man job is the speech of course, the one you will worry about. Just remember that practice makes perfect, and that the internet is always there to help you write it, but make sure you add that personal touch. That could be a great story about the groom, some insights into his past, or you could go all out and write a song! We have more blogs that will help you writing a speech as well, don’t worry guys we have your back!

Collect cards and presents:

There will be an allocated area for cards and presents so make sure that when any gifts get given to the bride and groom you take them and put them away safely. At the end of the night make sure the cards and gifts are somewhere safe to collect the next day.

Next day clear room:

The best man along with bridesmaids should be the ones going back into the room the day after and collecting all presents and tidying the room. The groom should be with his wife enjoying their first day of being married.

Don’t forget you could add a little extra surprise by decorating their car or house for when they leave with just married banners!
