Five Pub Games to Play With the Lads

Sometimes there's nothing better than a day (that can then turn into night) in the pub, with the lads! Though, we are lads, so there's only so much we have to talk about, which is why we all love a pub game.

Below I have listed some of the best pub games you can play when spending a day in the boozer. Some are classics, others you may not have heard of. We should also note that most of the games rely on specific equipment!

1. Pool

I don't know about you, but I think more pubs should have pool tables! They are becoming an extinct item of furniture in pubs across the land, and that problem needs to be addressed. It's brilliant when you walk into a pub and see a pool table dimly lit in the far corner and it's a great way to pass a few hours with the lads. You could play some traditional two-on-two if there's a four of you, and if there's more of you,'Killer' is a great game. Everyone put some money in, you have three lives and you take it in turns to have a shot. Miss or foul and you lose a life; last man remaining wins the cash. Simple!

2. Darts

Similar to pool, darts is a pub classic! Darts has grown in popularity over the last ten years with its growing presence on our television screens, and it's perfectly acceptable to play whilst getting pissed! As you can see with the pros, you don't have to be in great shape to throw arrows at a board. You can play against one another in its most traditional format, but there are also a number of different games you can play on a dart board. My personal favourite is'dart golf', however it's quite difficult to explain in a nutshell so click here to find out. Or any respectable landlord/lady should know!

3. Cards

Any proper drinking establishment should keep a pack of playing cards behind the bar! And if they do, there are plenty of games you can play. Probably the most commonly played card game in pubs these days is Poker'with some hosting regular poker nights'but if there's four or more of you, get a game going yourselves. Use the shrapnel in your pockets for chips and try to rinse your mates of some cash! If you're looking for a simpler card game, popular choices are'chase the ace' and blackjack.

4. LCR

Right, I've given you the obvious ones so far; time to open your mind to a new game. LCR (Left, Centre, Right) is not a game that any pubs will have behind the bar but you can buy the game easily enough yourself. This is a simple dice game that can involve any number of players, and is completely down to luck! You will have three chips (but it is more fun to replace the chips with coins) and basically whoever is the person with the last remaining chip/coin, will win the chips/coins in the middle. A really fun game when you use money instead of the chips, though I must warn you to play with caution. As I found out recently, those pound coins can soon whittle away!

5. Quiz Machine

Every group of lads has a smart arse. That one lad who thinks he knows more than everyone else, no matter what the topic of conversation! Well, find a pub with a quiz machine and you can put their knowledge to the test. Get all the lads huddled round a quiz machine and you can play some of your favourite T.V. quiz shows and potentially win some cash back. One piece of advice, assign a designated'answer presser'. You want to confer between the group before allowing that answer to be pressed. Nothing creates a fuss amongst all the boys like someone selecting the wrong answer. Trust me, I've been there!
