Ideal stag weekend action, surfing clears heads in seconds and gets under the skin for a lifetime. Once you've mastered the art of standing up (which you'll practice on Bournemouth's beaches before you take to the waves), you'll be hooked.

Bournemouth is home to the first artificial reef in the UK. Dropped into the water off Boscombe beach, it's designed to bring better waves to the south coast. Ride its products to shore on a foam board. If you listen to your instructor, you'll be catching green waves and standing up on them before the end of the day!

We reckon a winning stag weekend activity is either one that scares the pants off you, or one that lets you try something amazing you never would have done otherwise. Surfing definitely falls into the latter category!

A ridiculously addictive combination of laid back cool and heart in the mouth adrenaline, catching a wave is also the ultimate badge of honour for a beach bum. Brag about your exploits in the pub afterwards and the local wahines (surfer girls) are sure to be impressed.
