Future Nottingham stag parties may use high-speed rail
Nottingham may be the ideal place for a stag weekend after the transport secretary Lord Andrew Adonis revealed plans for a high-speed rail network.
Trains running at up to 250 miles per hour will link London with the East Midlands, as well as other cities such as Sheffield and Birmingham.
So Nottingham stag parties might be made that little bit more convenient.
Lord Adonis said: "The time has come for Britain to plan seriously for high-speed rail between our major cities."
The 'Y'-shaped network would span 335 miles and include connections on tracks that are already running.
Nottingham stag parties could expect to see the connectivity in the coming years and Mr Adonis said the next twenty to thirty years will see huge changes to the country's transport.
And those who have already got their stag weekend in Nottingham booked might want to pop into the Moulders Arms for a quick pint.
The Nottingham Evening Post recently said the Oakwell Old Tom - served at the pub - was "extremely palatable" and named it Pint of the Week.
