A magical stag night in Blackpool
Fans of magic attending a Blackpool stag party at the weekend may have taken part in a convention for illusionists held in the city.
The 58th annual Blackpool Magic Convention saw 3,500 punters turn up to witness rabbits being pulled out of hats, cards vanishing into thin air and endless streams of rainbow-coloured ribbon.
According to the Blackpool Gazette, one ambitious magician even wowed the crowds by seemingly making the famous Blackpool Tower disappear in a stunt similar to one performed by famed illusionist David Copperfield.
Andrew Green, from the Blackpool Magician's Club, which organised the event, told the newspaper: "It's nice to see the same faces returning year after year, the regulars know Blackpool really is the world centre of magic."
It was also announced that Blackpool will hold the World Magic Championships in 2012, giving magic fans another chance to spice up their stag weekend.
The Blackpool Magician's Club is in the Guinness Book of Records for the number of people attending the convention, which is the largest in the world.
