Bournemouth 'Britain's best holiday resort'

Bournemouth has been voted the best place to take a break in the UK, which could interest those who plan to hold their stag night in the seaside area.

As part of the Virgin Money Travel Insurance survey, 66 UK holiday destinations were judged on weather, value for money and the quality of the attractions offered.

Bournemouth topped the list, beating competition from other seaside towns such as Brighton, Portsmouth and Scarborough.

Those on a stag weekend in Bournemouth could be interested to learn that the town boasts seven miles of beach, "bustling shopping", theatres and other entertainment.

Commenting on the results, director of the British Resorts and Destinations Association Peter Hampton said: "It's a big resort which puts an awful lot of effort in and has a lot to offer."

Mr Hampton said that "to bring out the old cliche", the UK has a holiday destination for everyone, no matter what they enjoy on a break.
