New aquarium could be ideal for stag weekend in Bristol
A new giant coral reef is under construction in Bristol and is set to be finished for the end of October, which could interest those looking to go on a stag weekend in the city in comings months.
As part of the new £4 million Blue Reef Aquarium which is due to open next month, visitors to Bristol will be able to visit the giant artificial reef which is being built in Bristol's Harbourside.
Talking to Visit Bristol, reef artists Peter Sammels and Rachel Bemrose, from Nautilus Creative Services, said that they are aiming to make the fake reef as realistic as possible.
Ms Bemrose said: "We've tried to recreate the actual types of coral that you would find on a tropical reef - we've got fan, acropora, pillar, vase, brain and elephant's ear corals as well as a selection of sponges."
When those on a stag weekend in Bristol have checked out the reef, they could then visit one of the many restaurants on the Harbourside, such as the Watershed Cafe Bar, which has played host to celebrity diners such as Paul Merton and Massive Attack in the past.
