Bournemouth stag weekend: Boscombe Reef given thumbs up

Guys going on a stag weekend in Bournemouth can don their wetsuits and hit the waves thanks to the new surf reef at Boscombe, which has been praised by various surfers.

Several boarders told the Bournemouth Daily Echo that it produces waves which are more powerful than those usually found in the area, meaning lads keen to ride the water on their stag weekend in Bournemouth can do so.

Pete Herniman, an optician from Salisbury, said: "I think it's going to work really well. It's not producing a wave as good as on the beach at the moment. But it will be more powerful when the sandbar develops."

Another surfer, Simon Rixman, told the news provider that it is for quite advanced boarders, with waves that are both steep and powerful.

Toby Margetts, tourism spokesman for Bournemouth District Council, recently told the Cornish Guardian that Bournemouth is hoping to steal surf fans away from taking stag weekends in Newquay with the artificial reef.
