No booze clampdown for Bournemouth stag nights

Those making their way to a Bournemouth stag weekend will be able to drink as normal after the local council revealed it has no plans to crack down on binge boozing.

Jon Shipp, night-time economy manager at Bournemouth Borough Council, told the Bournemouth Echo that the town does not intend to introduce a post-office style bar where people stand in a line to get their drink and are limited to just two per person.

He said that the resort's Town Watch scheme, in which bars and clubs agree not to put on irresponsible promotions, has worked fine and that lads on stag weekends in Bournemouth behave themselves on the whole.

"I think that measures to tackle irresponsible drinking practices are something that Town Watch would welcome, as long as they also provide conditions in which the night-time economy can prosper … the most important thing is that Town Watch has continued to police itself very well," he told the news provider.

Those going on a stag night in Bournemouth may want to stay in the world's first chocolate-themed hotel, the Chocolate Boutique Hotel, where they can get stuck in to all kinds of sweet delights.
