Blockbusting events coming to Blackpool

Lads heading to a Blackpool stag weekend on September 4th and 5th will have the opportunity to see a host of stars at the Blackpool Illuminations switch on.

BBC Radio 2 and visitBlackpool have joined forces to bring the Big Switch-On Weekend, which will see the station broadcast various live shows.

Lads on a stag weekend in Blackpool will also be able to see TV funnyman Alan Carr do the honours of lighting up the city by turning the lights on, while Kate Thornton will be presenting the whole affair.

Various bands will be performing at the ceremony, including X Factor finalists JLS, 80s ska kings Madness, pop star Pixie Lott and Tony Christie.

Carr said he is looking forward to doing the honours at this year's event.

"I can't wait for my little break up there in the Vegas of the north," he stated.

In other news, the Blackpool Gazette recently reported that Claudia's lap dancing bar is fighting a decision from the town hall licensing panel to close it down.
