Recession "is encouraging holidays at home"

With the recession playing havoc with people's finances, more are deciding to holiday at home, which could also include stag party celebrations.

A spokesperson from VisitBritain claims that many will be staying in the UK this summer, meaning lads on a Newquay stag weekend will have plenty of people around to party with.

The representative said that recent findings have shown that those who enjoyed breaks in foreign parts last year are not planning to do so again, choosing instead to enjoy what their own country has to offer.

It means there could be lots of people heading to coastal resorts to spend some time away, which will ensure lads on a stag weekend in Newquay or a stag weekend in Bournemouth will have plenty of women to chat with while celebrating.

"Research from VisitEngland and VisitLondon indicates that one in five Britons who holidayed overseas last year are considering a break in their own country in 2009 - that's a potential five million extra visitors," the spokesperson says.

Meanwhile, lads on a Newquay stag party or a Bournemouth stag weekend will be able to chill on some of the UK's best beaches, according to the World Travel Guide.
