Lads on Sheffield stag parties "still spending big"

Boys going to a stag weekend in Sheffield, a stag weekend in Newquay or a stag night in Blackpool still plan to spend bug, despite the fact that the country is in a recession.

Research from Hotels.com and Wedding Ideas magazine also found that men are prepared to keep the celebrations going for longer than cash-conscious hens, with 74 per cent saying a stag party in Sheffield will last for the whole weekend.

The study also revealed that many lads on a Sheffield stag weekend will shell out an average of around £179, while ladies spend £118 for their friends' final few days of freedom.

Alison Couper, director of communications for Hotels.com, says that a stag night in Sheffield, Leeds or any other city is the groom's chance to shine.

"Traditionally the wedding day is all about the bride, so it would seem that many grooms use their stag do as an opportunity to take the limelight ahead of the big day," she claims.

In other news, a similar poll by Living TV found that some men are prepared to spend as much as £361 on a stag night in Sheffield.
