Brits "to holiday at home this summer"
Those heading on a stag weekend in Blackpool, Bournemouth and other areas of the country will be surrounded by people this summer because, despite the recession, Brits are still planning to go on holiday, with home their number one choice.
According to research by Sainsbury's Travel Insurance, around 670,000 people will be looking to escape the recession blues with a break somewhere, meaning lads on a Blackpool stag weekend could have plenty of people partying around them.
The UK is the most popular destination, with 63 per cent planning to holiday here, followed by the Eurozone, with 36 per cent, and further afield, with 23 per cent.
Sam Marrs, Sainsbury's Travel Insurance manager, said money blues are getting people down but many see a holiday as a solution.
"Despite tough economic conditions, it would appear that rather than sacrificing our holidays, we Britons may even be taking more breaks in a bid to put all the credit-crunch doom and gloom behind us," he said.
In other news, lads on a stag party in Blackpool next month can see the Red Arrows on Sunday August 8th.
